I found this great site, Free Napkin (freenapkin.com) where you can get all sorts of stuff in your local area for free. People post stuff they are trying to get rid of and the first person to claim the item gets it. There is no catch, everything is free on the site. There are items ranging from speakers, lamps, dryers, even dogs! All you have to do is sign up for the site and claim the item you want. I believe you might have to pick it up yourself though because the giver won’t want to pay for shipping on an item that’s not making them a profit. There is some really great stuff, so check it out today!

(AP) NEW YORK – Don Imus said he has prostate cancer, but the radio personality expressed confidence in a full recovery.
Imus, 68, made the announcement Monday on his morning show from New York, which airs on ABC Radio Networks and cable’s RFD-TV. He said he wrestled with the idea of making it public, but figured he should because he might have to miss some work due to treatment.
“I’m changing the name of the Imus Cattle Ranch for Kids with Cancer to the Imus Cattle Ranch for Kids with cancer and me,” he said, referring to his charity to help children with cancer.
Imus said he has early stage cancer, which means it hasn’t spread outside the prostate.
A one-time shock jock who now does a show heavy on the media and politics, Imus was fired by CBS Radio and MSNBC in spring 2007 for a racial slur of the Rutgers women’s basketball team. He later apologized. He’s built his radio network back to the level it was before the incident, although his influence has waned.
Imus said he was surprised more than anything about the diagnosis, since he’s been focused on following a healthy diet for the past decade.
He noted that doctors seemed reluctant to talk about one of his big worries: What prostate cancer treatment will mean for his sex life.

Anna Nicole Smith’s longtime doctor and partner, Howard K Stern, has been arrested for conspiring to supply controlled drugs to an addict. Stern turned himself in last night as well as doctors Sandeep Kapoor and Khristine Eroshevich have been charged with the same crime. The two were colleagues of Stern’s.
Smith died aged 39 in February 2007 after overdosing on prescription medications, just months after her 20-year-old son Daniel also died of a lethal combination of drugs. It’s too soon to say, but her son’s death may be suspect to conspiracy as well.

The same NASA developer who created a method to power robotic underwater vehicles have proposed a new technology aimed at converting ocean energy into electrical power. Water based electricity generation is nothing new. Hydroelectric power is a significant source of energy for many nations, as is evident from China’s ambitious dam projects.
Jack Jones and Yi Chao from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory invented a method for underwater devices to help power themselves. The technology involves using the differences in temperatures around them to create energy. This involves a phase change material which changes from a solid to a liquid when temperatures go from cold to warm. The pressure on the liquid is used to generate electricity, which helps charge the battery.
The researchers realize the high-pressure liquid could be applied on a larger scale. Eventually Jone and Chao along with Caltech proposed a system that would utilize fresh water in a closed cycle, so that there would be no harm to the environment in the process. As an added bonus, the design also “eliminates all submerged electrical components, which are subject to corrosion” says Jones. This is another added benefit of the system, as in conjunction with a low cost electrical generation system, could mean that this entire system could be developed at a lower budget, and be safer than the tidal generation system currently being used in Manhattan’s East River.
The system also allows energy to be generated on command, which would help meet peak usage times when energy demands are higher. Other environmental technologies do not operate in a similar fashion, and often produce energy at unpredictable times. The benefits of this are enormous, especially in the event that the traditional polluting methods of energy generation which help satiate demand during peak hours should ever be eliminated or banned.
Ultimately, the cost efficiency will be the main question. Will this technology become economically practical? Scientists at NASA claim that current research on that aspect is only in the beginning stages and can make no promises. Many such promising technologies are being put forward. With energy being such an important aspect of our economy, it has become vital for researchers such as these at NASA to get the proper funding and backing. In the midst of trillions being handed freely to bankers and homeowners who bought houses they couldn’t afford, less than 1% of it is headed towards promising projects such as this.

Circuit City was the largest competitor to Best Buy in the retailing business. After years of mistakes, Circuit City has finally bitten the bullet. There are many blunders to address, but not enough time in the world to analyze them all. Here are a few of the issues at the heart of the Circuit City collapse.
First, the end of commission. As soon as Circuit City decided to end commission and hire a bunch of hourly goons, it was all over. Nothing is worse than going into a retail store than to see apathetic teenagers who could really not care at all about customer satisfaction. Mix this fact in with the management who was constantly pushing their “cheese” or “service protection plans” on the employees, pressuring them consistently, and it would appear only the apathetic could survive in such a setting, with no true reward for employees who succeeded. Commission served as an incentive that helped generate sales, but also helped create amiable relations between the customer and employees. Concerned employees had a reason to develop a rapport with customers. After Circuit City ended that practice, many of the long time employees left, taking their customer-employee relationships with them.
Second, strange management shifting policies. After being employed there for years, it becomes hard to notice that the management was completely shifted out every few months and moved to separate offices only miles away. This strange disruption seemed to always occur right before it was time for evaluation (which leads to raises). Thus the promises of the old management would become null and void as they disappear suddenly, and often without so much as a word in advance. This would lead to not only many of the good employees promised salary increases getting the shaft, but disruption of the smooth operation of the company. The anger of employees at such schemes may lead to lowered sales and customers being treated with less enthusiasm. If one had the phone number of their old bosses, they were usually at the Circuit City on the other side of town, having not been moved very far.
In finality, it is the bottom line focused nature of Circuit City that killed it. Just before the fall, Circuit City cut all of their employees making above a certain amount. If raises are an indication of good employees, that would mean Circuit City just fired anyone who did “too good” of a job. This type of cost-cutting is of the worst variety. The death of the company soon to follow should come as no surprise.

Erika La Tour Eiffel, 37, a former soldier who lives in San Francisco has fallen in love with the Berlin Wall, a piece of fence, and her bow that helped her become a world class archer. You might say she has an object fetish. She has now decided to pledge to love honour and obey the Eiffel Tower. The marriage ceremony was attended by a handful of her closest friends. She even changed her last name to reflect this commitment of love.
She blames her upbringing for her condition. She claims to have been molested by her half-brother and abandoned by her parents to various foster homes.
“Someone who falls in love with objects can control that relationship on their own terms,” he said. “Their objects will not let them down. That is extremely attractive for a person who is otherwise often desperately lonely.” Says Jerry Brooker a New York State psychotherapist.

Brian Bosworth, infamous for the movie Stone Cold and his bust in the NFL was busted on DUI charges recently. Cops pulled over The Boz on Hollywood Blvd. for not having a license plate on his bike, but detected alcohol on his breath. He failed the breathalyzer and was arrested and taken into custody at about 3:00 AM. We’re told he was very cooperative. Boz was released with a $5,000 dollar bond.

There was an explosion in downtown Bozeman Montana on Thursday morning. The explosion leveled three buildings and the three block surrounding area had to be evacuated.
Reports indicate the explosion happened at about 8:15 a.m. in the 200 block of Main Street.
Crews were working to extinguish a fire caused by the explosion.
Boodles restaurant and bar were destroyed, KBZK-TV reported. A police dispatcher said the adjacent Rockin R bar was also destroyed. Police evacuated the two blocks surrounding the businesses, housed in brick buildings. The fire crews had trouble getting to the fires because there was a snow storm during the incident.
Jason Shrauger with the Gallatin County Disaster and Emergency Services said it was unknown what caused the explosion or if there were any injuries.

Here is actual text from the 911 call that Latreasa Leshae Goodman made. She said she was calling 911 to report a theft, because she gave money and didn’t get her order. McDonalds issued her a gift certificate.
“This is an emergency, if I would have known they didn’t have McNuggets, I wouldn’t have given my money, and now she wants to give me a McDouble, but I don’t want one, this is an emergency!”
911 is not your personal complaint number, it is for real emergencies like life threatening or criminal ones!
